The Sandy Hut, affectionately referred to by desperate singles as the Handy Slut, is a close in NE bar and “restaurant” in a purple triangular (windowless) building on the South side of Sandy Boulevard, just off Burnside. Denizens tend to be rough and tumble, but it’s hard to tell if that’s actually how they are or if it’s just an act put on by some hipsters that think it would be cool to go slumming. Greasy-ass food and an ok brew selection. This bar was put one step closer towards cult status when someone entered a car in the Portland Adult Soap Box Derby that was a striking replica.
