Escape from New York Pizzeria

Usually, when a pizzeria bills itself “New York Style”, they overdecorate the place with Big Apple paraphernalia (for “authenticity”) to hide the fact that they have no fucking clue as to what “New York Style” is. While Escape has the NYC decor in spades, don’t let that fool you. The long-standing institution (one of the few great pizza places in the pre-Scholls era) knows its shit (excuse my french). The crust is of perfect thickness, and there’s the correct balance of sauce and cheese. If you want a slice, there’s only three choices-cheese, pepperoni, and the special. If you’re into gourmet pizza with fancy ingredients, try Pizzicato. But if you want great pizza from an establishment owned by real New Yorkers (and with a New York attitude) then come here! Tip: bring your East Coast pals here if they constantly moan, “there’s no good pizza on the West Coast.”
